In February 2023, a third party was permitted to enter my pending divorce proceedings and was given control over every aspect of my financial life and divorce settlement, not my soon-to-be ex-husband’s life, only mine.
Leah Robertson granted every request made against me, regardless of the evidence, the Constitution, or law. The control imposed over my life, and the cruelty I experienced under it, would continue until July 31, 2025.
MY TRUTH will eventually reveal the overwhelming atrocities I suffered within the judicial system of Midland, Texas. However, a very brief reference is all that is needed to understand how TRUTH. RESILIENCE. GRACE. became a reality and led me here.
By this point, I felt as though I had been left with nothing except darkness, anger, and complete hopelessness.
So, for weeks, I grieved. I fell apart. I allowed myself to feel every emotion. I screamed. I cried. I spoke to God. I stayed in bed while doing my best to acknowledge another painful TRUTH that I had no control or say in creating.
AGAIN.
But there were two profound differences between this moment and July 2019:
- I understood that acknowledging my new reality did not mean accepting the injustice as right, deserved, or final.
- God used this time to begin revealing His purpose for me.
Initially, I did not understand His purpose, but I did not question it. The only way I could make sense of everything that had happened...and everything that continued happening…was to believe God had a greater purpose because nothing else could explain what I had endured, lost, and survived.
Romans 5:3–4 explains to us that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance produces character; and character produces hope.
This does not mean God caused, condoned, or chose my suffering. It means my suffering was not evidence of punishment or abandonment. Even in the moments when understanding felt impossible, I always knew God had a greater plan and would bring purpose from my pain and restore hope where none remained.
God knows my heart better than anyone. He knew I would take my suffering, excruciating pain, and agonizing experiences and transform them into a purpose…one dedicated to helping others navigate their abuse, fear, suffering, and hopelessness so they would never feel alone or lost inside their own TRUTH.
TRUTH. RESILIENCE. GRACE. was born from the TRUTH of what I survived, the RESILIENCE that kept me moving forward, and the GRACE I am still learning to offer myself.
TRUTH. RESILIENCE. GRACE. was created for you…to remind you that you are seen, you are believed, and you are not alone.
